Treetop Camping in the Pine Forest

Treetop Camping in the Pine Forest
Tonight I’d be treetop camping in the pines. A crackling fire and a pot of coffee were waiting as I reached the campsite. Twilight had fallen, and I could just make out the tents floating in the forest, suspended between the pine trees. We were in Haldon Forest, a swathe of woodland that stretches for 3500 acres across South Devon, laced with a spiderweb of trails and paths.
Treetop tents are a fun and unique wild camping experience. They leave no damage to the forest floor, and they allow you to sleep while literally floating on air. With no electricity, it was the perfect place to unplug, soaking in the evening smell of woodsmoke and damp earth. I cooked dinner on the communal fire pit, sharing stories over a bottle of wine. Sleeping in the tents was surprisingly comfortable. I soon fell into a sound sleep to the rushing wind in the treetops.
