… and so it begins

… and so it begins

To say we’ve finally arrived in Jakarta is very strange. After 10 months of planning, we’re here, and it feels amazing. Flats have been sold, jobs have been quit; our entire lives have flipped upside down. It hasn’t been without it’s stresses, but every one of those was worth it when the plane touched down in Java. The air is hot and humid, the traffic is absolutely mental and the skyline is a kaleidoscope of skyscrapers and flashing lights.

Our hotel is a dream too. Tucked away down a busy but not-too-loud street, it’s everything you need after a 14 hour flight. The rooms are small but perfectly formed, with rainfall shower wet rooms and our very own Javan robe, which I’m sitting in now as I write this. I can’t wait to take some proper photos tomorrow. But for now, this is what our evening has consisted of – eating Nasi Goreng, watching the bustle of the street below and ending the night on the rooftop bar. And now, we sleep.
